Man with 16,000 yaba pills arrested in Teknaf, fake journalist ID recovered

A man with 16,000 pieces of yaba pills was arrested during a raid at a BGB check post in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar. The detainee introduced himself as a journalist, but a fake ID was later recovered from him.
The detainee's name is Mohammad Anwar (father Mohammad Nur). He is a resident of Hnila Sikderpara area of Teknaf upazila.
Lieutenant Colonel Zahirul Islam, commander of 64 BGB in Ukhia, said that on Monday afternoon, based on a secret tip-off, a microbus heading from Hnila to Cox's Bazar was stopped at the Hoi Kang check post.
At that time, when BGB members and narcotics dog "Henry" prepared to search the vehicle, the driver tried to cross the check post by introducing himself as a journalist and misbehaved.
Later, the microbus was chased and seized. During the search, 16,000 pieces of Yaba were recovered, which were specially hidden inside the back seat cover of the car.
A microbus and an iPhone used for drug transportation were seized in the incident. The accused was also arrested.
During initial interrogation, he admitted that he was collecting the Yaba from Hnila and taking it to Cox's Bazar to sell at a higher price.
The BGB said that intelligence surveillance and operations have been further strengthened to prevent drug smuggling in the border area.
