Championship rings for World Cup winners for the first time, FIFA is creating new history

The glory of winning the World Cup has so far been limited to trophies and gold medals. This time, a new honor is being added to that tradition. For the first time, from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the champion team will be given a special championship ring, which will be preserved as a memorial to the achievements of the winning players and coaching staff.
FIFA said that this new initiative has been taken inspired by the popular sports culture of North America. Championship rings have been given to title winners in leagues like the NBA, NFL and MLB for a long time. This time, for the first time, that honor is being added to the Football World Cup.
What is new in this honor?
According to FIFA's plan, a total of 30 customized rings will be made for the players and coaching staff of the World Cup-winning team. The symbolic rings will be handed over to the captain and head coach on the field after the final match. Later, the rings specially made according to the size of each finger will be officially presented.
Each ring will feature the World Cup trophy design, the identity of the champion team, a unique serial number and a design specially created for the owner. It will also come with an official certificate of authenticity.
There will be opportunities for fans too
Limited edition rings will be launched not only for the champion team, but also for football fans. A total of 2,026 rings will be made. Of these, 30 will be for the winning team and the remaining 1,996 will be officially sold to fans around the world.
The beginning of a new tradition at the World Cup
According to FIFA, this initiative will make the memory of winning the World Cup even more special. As a result, the champion team of the 2026 World Cup will be the first team in history to receive the championship ring along with the trophy and gold medal.
