Two countries have won the World Cup in a row in football history, can Argentina do it?

Winning the World Cup in a row is a truly rare achievement in football history—only two countries have achieved this feat so far: Italy (1934, 1938) and Brazil (1958, 1962). Now the question is, can Argentina add its name to that list in 2026?
Argentina is currently going through an extraordinary time. Lionel Scaloni's team is brimming with confidence after winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Lionel Messi's leadership, the emergence of young players and team balance—all of which make them still considered one of the strongest teams in world football.
However, the challenge is not small. Retaining the title in the World Cup is always difficult, because opponents analyze the current champion separately and adopt different strategies. Again, age, form, injuries—everything plays a big role.
According to experts, Argentina will be among the favorites, but they will face tough competition from teams like France, Brazil, England and Germany.
In short, Argentina can make history—but it will be a very tough fight. The potential for them to win back-to-back World Cups is as great as the risk.
