Fitr Amount Announced for This Year—Maximum 2,805 Taka, Minimum?

The Islamic Foundation has officially set the rate of Sadaqatul Fitr (Fitr) for the year 1447 Hijri. According to the announcement, the maximum amount is 2,805 Bangladeshi taka and the minimum is 110 taka per person.
The decision was announced on February 25 through a press release after a meeting of the National Sadaqatul Fitr Determination Committee. The meeting was held at the conference room of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and was chaired by the mosque’s khatib and committee chairman Mufti Maulana Abdul Malek.
Fitr Amount Based on Food Items
According to Islamic Shariah, Fitr can be paid with certain staple food items or their market value. The committee determined the following amounts:
- Wheat/Flour: Half Sa (1.65 kg) or 110 taka
- Barley: 1 Sa (3.3 kg) or 595 taka
- Dates: 1 Sa (3.3 kg) or 2,475 taka
- Raisins: 1 Sa (3.3 kg) or 2,640 taka
- Cheese: 1 Sa (3.3 kg) or 2,805 taka
The rates were set based on the current market prices of these items collected from different regions of the country.
Purpose of Fitr
Sadaqatul Fitr is a mandatory charity given by Muslims before the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer. Its purpose is to help poor and needy people so they can also celebrate Eid with dignity and joy.
The committee also stated that due to variations in market prices across regions, Muslims may pay the equivalent value based on local market rates, and it will still be considered valid.
