BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will contest from the Dhaka-17 parliamentary constituency as well as the Bogra-6 constituency. The nomination papers for the Dhaka-17 constituency were collected on his behalf on Sunday (December 28) morning. BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter.
He said that BNP Chairperson's Private Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar went to the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner's office in Segunbagicha at 10:50 am to collect the nomination papers on behalf of Tarique Rahman. The nomination papers for the Dhaka-17 constituency were collected from the office of Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury there.
According to party sources, earlier the Dhaka-17 constituency was vacated by BNP for Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Chairman Andaliv Rahman Partha. However, the political equation has changed as Tarique Rahman himself decided to contest the election from this important constituency. For this reason, BNP will give up the Bhola-1 seat to Andaliv Rahman Partha.
It is worth noting that Tarique Rahman's participation in the election from his home constituency Bogra-6 was already final and he has been nominated for that seat by the party.
