Dr. Sabrina got involved in a huge controversy while paying homage by placing flowers at the tomb of former President Shaheed Ziaur Rahman. Allegedly, she was once close to the Awami League. And based on that allegation, angry Chhatra Dal leaders and activists refused to accept her presence.
This tense incident took place at Zia Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital on Saturday (September 27) afternoon.
Eyewitnesses said that Dr. Sabrina and some others came to pay homage at the shrine under the banner of Narsingdi District Zia Cultural Organization. At that time, some leaders and activists including Akram, President of Dhaka Metropolitan West Chhatra Dal, came and wanted to know Sabrina's identity.
When she claimed to be the number one member of the central committee, Chhatra Dal leaders accused her of raising slogans against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during the Awami League government.
Sabrina denied the allegations and said, “I have never raised slogans against Sheikh Hasina. If you have proof, show it.”
However, the situation quickly became heated. Chhatra Dal leaders and activists started raising slogans—“Beware of Awami brokers!”, “Awami League’s address will not be in Bengal!”
At one point, under pressure, Dr. Sabrina got into her car and left the place. After that, the situation calmed down.
