BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman's wife, renowned physician Dr. Zobaida Rahman, has returned to the country after 17 years from London. She returned home with her mother-in-law, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, on May 6 and has been busy with various social and political activities since then. This is the first time she has been seen physically offering Friday prayers at a mosque, which has attracted widespread attention.
On May 9, Friday, Dr. Zobaida Rahman offered Friday prayers at a mosque in the Dhanmondi area of the capital Dhaka. BNP International Affairs Secretary Barrister Nasir Uddin Ahmed Asim posted some pictures of her on his Facebook page and mentioned, "Dr. Zobaida Rahman, wife of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, offered Friday prayers at Mosque No. 7 in Dhanmondi." He further said that Barrister Nasir Uddin Ahmed Asim, his wife Barrister Mehnaz Mannan and other leaders were present with him at this time.
After returning to the country, Zubaida Rahman is staying at Khaleda Zia's house Firoza in Gulshan and is participating in political and social activities. She is also regularly visiting her father's house, Mahbub Bhaban, in Dhanmondi. She is inextricably linked to her close relationship with her mother-in-law Khaleda Zia and her family's political activities.
Dr. Zubaida Rahman's presence and participation in religious activities have once again brought her into the discussion in the political circles of Bangladesh. Her presence has also become an important message for the party supporters, which is being seen as a symbol of political and religious unity.
