The body of MP Anwarul Azim has not been found yet. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said on May 22 that he was killed in Kolkata. However, if his dead body is not found, complications may arise with declaring his seat vacant in Parliament.
According to the rules, the Jatiya Sangsad is supposed to publish the gazette declaring Anwarul Azim's seat vacant. The Election Commission also has an obligation to hold by-elections within 90 days. Anwarul Azim is both a Member of Parliament and a transport businessman. Confirmation of death is also necessary for managing his movable and immovable assets and bank accounts.
Anwarul Azim (Anar), a three-time Member of Parliament from Jhenaidah-4 Constituency, went to India on a personal visit for medical treatment on May 12. Since May 17, his contact with his family has stopped. The next day, a general diary (GD) was filed by his friend Gopal Biswas at North Kolkata's Baranagar police station regarding his disappearance. Anwarul Azim's daughter Mumtarin Ferdous (Dorin) reported her father's disappearance to the intelligence agency DB in Dhaka.
Even after 12 days, the body was not found. According to media reports, Anwarul was murdered on the night of May 13. Kolkata Police is trying to recover his body.
