Dengue Prevention Campaign Begins Today; Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to Inaugurate

With the rising outbreak of dengue in the capital and various parts of the country, a three-month-long ‘Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign-2026’ is launching nationwide today, Saturday (September 12).

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will formally inaugurate this nationwide program at 9:00 AM on Saturday at the South Plaza of the National Parliament House.

This information was conveyed in a press release signed by Syed Abdal Ahmad, Principal Information Officer of the Press Information Department (PID).

Campaign to Run Until December 12

Earlier, on Wednesday (September 9), State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Mir Shahe Alam stated in the National Parliament—under Rule 300 of the Rules of Procedure—that nationwide preventive measures are being intensified ahead of the peak outbreak period due to the rising dengue infection rate in the country.

He announced that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has declared the ‘Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign-2026’ to run from September 12 to December 12.

Coordinated Initiative for Dengue Prevention

The State Minister further mentioned that the Prime Minister held meetings with the Ministry of Local Government and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to review the dengue situation and adopt coordinated measures for the disease's prevention and treatment.

Through this nationwide campaign, emphasis will be placed on destroying dengue breeding grounds, intensifying cleanliness activities, and raising public awareness.

Call for Citizen Awareness

Alongside government initiatives for dengue prevention, emphasis is also being placed on citizens keeping their own homes and surrounding areas clean. Regular monitoring is particularly necessary to remove stagnant water and destroy Aedes mosquito breeding grounds.

The goal is to bring the dengue situation under control through the coordinated participation of government institutions, local administrations, and the general public during this three-month-long prevention and cleanliness campaign.
