Work is underway to prepare a comprehensive list of top drug dealers to prevent the spread of drugs across the country, said Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed. He said that after the list is finalized, strict legal action will be taken against those concerned and no compromise will be made in this regard.
He said this while talking to reporters after a meeting on drug prevention and law and order development organized by the district administration at the Cox's Bazar Circuit House on Thursday (August 7).
The Home Minister said that important routes in Cox's Bazar are being identified to control drug smuggling. There are plans to set up permanent camps of law enforcement agencies in these areas. In addition, patrols of the Navy and Coast Guard will be further strengthened to prevent drug smuggling by land as well as water.
He also said that carriers or carriers involved in drug trafficking will also be quickly identified and brought under the law. All relevant government agencies are working in a coordinated manner to protect the youth from the dangers of drugs.
The meeting reviewed the law and order situation in Cox's Bazar and various activities to control drugs. Local public representatives and senior administration officials were present.
Earlier, the Home Minister arrived in Cox's Bazar on a two-day official visit. On the second day of the visit, he will inspect various projects of the Cox's Bazar Development Authority and participate in the foundation stone laying ceremony of the development work of Cox's Bazar Medical College Hospital. After the visit, he is scheduled to return to Dhaka on Friday evening.
