Bo'm'b object under metro station: Extreme panic in Mirpur and Farmgate

Published: 01:39 1 August 2026
The news of finding bomb-like objects under the two busiest areas of the capital, Mirpur No. 10 and Farmgate Metro Rail Station, has spread panic. Since the news suddenly came out around noon on Saturday (August 1), fear has been created among pedestrians and businessmen in the relevant areas. Law enforcement officers have been quickly deployed in those areas for security reasons.
Confirming the truth of the incident, Additional Commissioner of the Special Crime Suppression Division, Shamsul Haque, said that the presence of bomb-like objects was detected in two separate places in Dhaka at the same time. One of them was identified in Mirpur No. 10 and the other in the Farmgate area adjacent to Tejgaon Police Station. After learning about the matter, several teams and expert teams of law enforcement agencies immediately left for the scene.
Meanwhile, Deputy Police Commissioner of Mirpur Division, Mostaq Sarkar, said at around 12:50 pm that they took immediate action after receiving the news. Currently, members of the skilled bomb disposal team of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have reached the spot, surrounded the object and are examining it closely.
However, police officials have not agreed to make any clear comments on whether the recovered objects are active explosives or not. Police have urged the public not to panic and remain vigilant, saying that it is not possible to say anything for sure until the examination is completed. Currently, strict security and surveillance have been strengthened in the two places and their surrounding areas.
