Government assistance will continue until rehabilitation of flood victims is completed: Finance and Planning Minister

He said this at a relief distribution ceremony among flood victims in Saral Union of Banshkhali Upazila of Chittagong on Friday (July 17). Earlier, he visited various flood-affected areas to see the damage firsthand and spoke to the locals.

The minister said that about 7 lakh people have been affected by the recent floods in Chittagong district. Relief materials have already been delivered to about 1 lakh people. Distribution of necessary assistance including rice, cooked food, dry food to the victims is continuing. In addition, rehabilitation activities have also started step by step.

He also said that communication system has been disrupted due to damage to various roads due to the floods. Instructions have been given to the concerned authorities to quickly repair the damaged roads and repair work has already started in several places.

Local public representatives, administration officials, and political leaders were present at the relief distribution ceremony. Speakers emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to deal with disasters and to stand by the affected people.
