Voting underway in festive atmosphere across the country, turnout satisfactory

The wait is over. Voting for the 13th National Parliament election is underway across the country starting from 7:30 am on Thursday. Crowds of people started gathering in front of polling stations in different parts of the country before dawn. As the morning progressed, that crowd turned into long queues.
A festive atmosphere has been created in many centers with the presence of voters of all ages - women, men, young and old. Some voters have come to the centers with their families, some with their neighbors. The spontaneous presence of voters has been particularly noticeable in the capital Dhaka and divisional and district cities.
It is learned that voting is underway across the country in a peaceful and uninterrupted atmosphere. Voters are exercising their voting rights spontaneously. A total of 50 political parties, including BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) and Islami Andolan Bangladesh, have participated in this much-awaited election.
There are 2,028 candidates contesting the election. Of these, 1,755 are candidates from various political parties and 273 are independent candidates.
