Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi was shot dead on the orders of Pallabi Thana Jubo League president and former Dhaka North City councilor Tajul Islam Chowdhury Bappi, the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) police said.
DB Additional Police Commissioner Md. Shafiqul Islam gave this information at a press conference organized at the DMP Media Center on Tuesday (January 6) afternoon after submitting the charge sheet in the Hadi murder case.
He said that the murder was committed on the orders of Pallabi Thana Jubo League president and former North City councilor Tajul Islam Chowdhury Bappi. The investigation revealed that taking an anti-Awami League stance while activities were banned was the main reason for the murder.
The DB chief also said that a total of 17 people, including Faisal Karim Masud, have been accused in the murder of Shaheed Sharif Osman bin Hadi and a charge sheet has been submitted to the court. Among the accused in the chargesheet, 12 have been arrested and 5 are absconding.
Regarding the video message of accused Faisal Karim Masud, he said that giving the video message is his personal matter, but the investigation has found evidence of his involvement in the murder.
It is worth noting that on December 12, two youths riding a motorcycle in the Bijoynagar area of Paltan in the capital shot Sharif Osman Hadi in the head and fled. He was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a serious condition. Later, on the decision of his family, he was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital. While undergoing treatment in the CCU there, he was taken to Singapore on December 15 for advanced treatment. He died there on December 18 while undergoing treatment.
