The country's highest 117-foot flagstand has been inaugurated at Banglabandha land port in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh district. The red-green flag of Bangladesh will fly in the sky of independent Bengal every day using modern technology at this flagstand.
On Tuesday (November 4) afternoon, the flagstand was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner and learned Magistrate Md. Sabet Ali at the Banglabandha border area adjacent to the zero line organized by the Tentulia administration.
At the time, Tentulia Upazila Executive Officer Afroz Shahin Khasru, Tentulia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Musa Mia, Assistant Commissioner (Land) S.M. Akash, Tentulia BNP President Shahadat Hossain Ranju, local administration officials, political leaders, journalists, businessmen and dignitaries were present as special guests.
In addition to the hoisting of the national flag, a rally, procession and discussion meeting were organized at the inaugural ceremony. Through the ceremony, the national flag was officially hoisted at the highest flagstand of Bangladesh on the Tentulia border, known as the free zone.
Tentulia Upazila Executive Officer Afroz Shahin Khasru said, “The construction of this flagstand in the Banglabandha area is not just an establishment, it will stand as a symbol of our independence, sovereignty and the glory of the Liberation War.”
He also said, “During the Liberation War, Tentulia was under Sector No. 6. Due to the remote area, the Pakistani occupying forces could not enter here. At that time, this area was called the ‘free zone’. Therefore, the construction of this flagstand is a unique symbol for the historic Tentulia.”
It is worth noting that the construction cost of the flagstand has been estimated at around 3 million taka. Through this, the national flag of Bangladesh will fly proudly at the highest height of the country on the Banglabandha border every day from now on.
