Locals praise the cemetery cleaning program initiated by the Milanpur Youth Unity Forum of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila
“Say together — quit drugs and go play, we are everywhere for the sake of humanity” — keeping this slogan in mind, the Milanpur Youth Unity Forum of Bariya Union of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila has organized a weed and shrub cleaning program at the Milanpur Central Cemetery.
This program was conducted on Saturday (October 4) morning under the leadership of local youth Shariful Islam Sharif and Golam Mostafa. Like every year, this time too, they have earned the praise of the locals by cleaning the jungle of the cemetery under the initiative of the youth.
Babul Hossain, Shakib Islam, Ripon Mia, Ashraful Islam, Sabbir Islam, Ramzan Ali, Saju Mia, Al-Amin, Jewel Rana, Rajab Ali, Yasin Ali, Shuvo Islam, Alamgir Hossain, Faridul Islam, Hakim Islam, Nayan Islam, Hajiful, Ujjwal and many others cooperated during this time.
Local residents MA Hamid and Abdur Rouf said that the graveyard was full of weeds and bushes for a long time. Relatives had to suffer while burying the dead. Therefore, this initiative has been taken with the collective participation of the locals.
Zakir Hossain, a participant in the cleaning program, said, “The last destination of every Muslim after death is the graveyard. Therefore, it is our moral responsibility to keep it clean.”
Another participant Nabir Hossain said, “This is our last destination, so we try to clean the graveyard every year with the locals.”
Shariful Islam Sharif, who is in charge of the cemetery cleaning program, said, “If we had hired people to do the work, it would have cost a lot of money. So we are cleaning it ourselves. This gives us peace of mind. We are doing it today, tomorrow our next generation will do it — that is our promise.”
Meanwhile, welcoming such a humanitarian initiative by the youth community, the locals said that other youth in the community should also come forward for such public welfare work.
