Anisul, Salman, and eight others arrested in separate murder cases

The Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court has granted an application to show the arrest of eight others, including former Law Minister Anisul Haque and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's private investment and industrial affairs advisor Salman F Rahman, in two separate murder cases.

Anisul Haque, Salman F Rahman, and eight others were produced before the CMM Court in Dhaka from prison on Monday (July 21) morning. Later, the state prosecutor applied to show their arrest in two separate murder cases filed at the capital's Mohammadpur and Rampura police stations. After the hearing, the court granted the application.

Anisul Haque, former law minister
Salman F. Rahman, former private investment and industrial affairs advisor to the prime minister
Rashed Khan Menon, president and former minister of the Workers' Party of Bangladesh
Hasanul Haque Inu, president and former minister of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal
Atikul Islam, former mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation
Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon, former member of parliament
Sadeq Khan, former member of parliament
Naimur Hasan Russell, Chhatra League leader (Mohammadpur police station)
After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government in the student-public uprising on August 5 last year, major changes took place in the political arena. Immediately after the fall of the government, several murder cases were filed in the wake of violence and various incidents. Anisul Haque and Salman F. Rahman were arrested on August 13. Later, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haque Inu, Atikul Islam, and others were also shown to be arrested in various cases.
In today's hearing, the court ordered that they be shown arrested in two new murder cases at the Mohammadpur and Rampura police stations.
In the next step, the court granted the application to show the arrests against the accused, but no decision has been made yet on the remand or bail hearing. The lawyers said that further legal action will be taken depending on the progress of the investigation.
