St. Martin's fire causes damage worth Tk 6 crore, tourists evacuated!

Three eco resorts have been completely burnt down in a terrible fire on St. Martin's Island, causing a loss of about Tk 6 crore. Police said the accident started at Shayari Resort.
St. Martin Police Outpost Officer Ajit Kumar Das said that the fire first broke out at Shayari Resort and quickly spread to two neighboring resorts—Golachipa Beach Valley and Kingshuk Resort. Most of the resorts were burnt down and were of very high quality. He added that after talking to the resort owners, the initial loss is estimated to be around Tk 6 crore.
Md. Sarwar Kamal, owner of Galachipa Beach Valley Resort, said that the fire has completely destroyed their resort and they have suffered a loss of Tk 4 crore.
Saifuddin Babar, assistant director of Kingshuk Resort, said that tourists were quickly evacuated to a safe place after the fire broke out at the resort. However, 15 rooms of their resort were burnt down, causing a loss of more than 15 million taka.
Local union chairman Mujibur Rahman called the fire very unfortunate and called on the government to take urgent steps to help the traders.
Meanwhile, Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sheikh Ehsan Uddin said that a team of them has reached the spot and the fire incident is being investigated. He said that discussions are underway with the authorities on how to help the victims.
