Stand by flood victims in times of crisis without profit: CAB

The Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) has expressed concern over the abnormal increase in the prices of daily commodities including boat rental, public transport and truck rental, candles, dry food, drinking water, vegetables for rescue work in flood-affected areas.
The consumer protection agency said, instead of doing business capitalizing on the plight of the Banvasi people, stop the festival of cutting people's pockets for daily food products and services. At the same time, the organization called on the people to stand by the people rather than distributing relief under the social responsibility.
On Saturday (August 24), Chittagong Division and Metropolitan Committee of CAB made this call in a statement expressing concern over the increase in the price of food and daily commodities due to ongoing floods in Chittagong, Feni, Noakhali regions.
In the statement, Vice President of CAB Central Committee SM Najer Hossain, General Secretary Kazi Iqbal Bahar Chhaberi, Metropolitan President Jasmine Sultana Paru, General Secretary Ajay Mitra Shanku, South District President Alhaj Abdul Mannan, President of CAB Youth Group Chittagong Division Chowdhury KNM Riad and CAB Youth Group. Chittagong Metropolitan President Abu Hanif Noman made this call.
