case against 35 people including aowami League president Sadar Khan

A case of murder has been registered in connection with the killing of Babu, an agitator, during the anti-discrimination student movement. District Awami League president, general secretary, senior vice president and upazila chairman have been accused of ordering the murder. Raisul Haque filed the case at Kushtia Model Police Station as the plaintiff on Thursday night. The police have not yet arrested any accused in this case. A total of 35 people including leaders and activists of Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League and Volunteer League were mentioned in this incident. Another 40/50 accused have been made unidentified. Kushtia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed the matter to Dhaka Post. The deceased Babu Kushtia is the son of deceased Nowsher Ali of Shaldah area of Hatsh Haripur village of Sadar upazila. Babu was a goldsmith by profession. Babu murder case: Kushtia Sadar Upazila Chairman and City Awami League General Secretary Ataur Rahman Ata, Kushtia Zilla Parishad Chairman and District Awami League Senior Vice President Haji Rabiul Islam, Kushtia District Awami League President Sadar Uddin Khan, Kushtia District Awami League General Secretary Azgar Ali. Apart from this, the accused in this case are - Kushtia District Volunteer League General Secretary Manab Chaki, Kushtia District Chhatra League President Atiqur Rahman Anik and Kushtia Government College Chhatra League President Ferdous, Kushtia Municipality Ward No. 19 Councilor Rezaul Islam Babu along with Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League, Volunteer League leaders and activists. 35 names are mentioned. Raisul Haque, the plaintiff in the Goldsmith Babu murder case, mentioned in his statement, I am studying in the third year of my degree in Kushtia Government College. I, along with Babu (killed) many people were participating in the quota reform movement in various places of Kushtia city since last July 17. In that continuation, participating in the non-cooperation movement of the students on August 5, around 3:40 in the afternoon, the accused blocked our way with native weapons, sticks and sharp chapati. Accused No. 1.2, 3 and 4 Kushtia Sadar Upazila Chairman and City Awami League General Secretary Ataur Rahman Ata, Kushtia Zilla Parishad Former Chairman and District Awami League Senior Vice President Haji Rabiul Islam, Kushtia District Awami League President Sadar Uddin Khan, Kushtia District Awami League General Secretary Azgar Ali ordered, "Kill the Shalads". As soon as they received their orders, the accused with their native weapons, sticks and sharp chapatis in their hands, chased us to kill us. Then we run to the Sixth Street for our lives. After that, when we went to the street in front of the Thanapara arrang, the accused slapped Babu's shoulder with a sharp chapati. Babu immediately fell on the road. Then accused No. 5 Manav Chaki Babu, general secretary of Kushtia District Volunteer League, hit him with a chapati on the right side of his head and caused serious bloody injury. Accused No. 7 and No. 8 Kushtia District Chhatra League President Atiqur Rahman Anik and Kushtia Government College Chhatra League President Ferdous cut the victim Babu's body with a sharp knife and inflicted bloody wounds. Accused No. 10 (Councilor Rezaul Islam of Ward No. 19 of Kushtia Municipality) hit Babu's right hand with a stick, resulting in fractured bones. Accused No. 11, 12, 13 (Commissioner Mahidul, Mahabul and Councilor Kaushik) hit Babu with a sharp chapati and knife, causing injuries in various parts of the body. The other accused thrashed Babu. When we went forward to save him, accused No. 6 and 9 (Hasib Quraishi and Habibur Rahman Habi) fired pistols at us and threatened to kill us if we came forward. When Babu became pale, the accused went towards Bakchatwar while cheering. Then we rescued the victim Babu in injured condition and rushed him to Kushtia 250 bed general hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead. Kushtia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahfuzur Rahman said that a case has been registered in the case of Babu's murder. Legal action will be taken against the accused. No one has been arrested yet. Apart from this, a separate case of murder has been registered in connection with the shooting of a child named Abdullah at the junction of six roads during the anti-discrimination student movement in Kushtia city on the afternoon of August 5. In the case, Mahbubul Alam Hanif, former Member of Parliament of Kushtia-3 (Sadar) Constituency and Joint General Secretary of Awami League, has been accused of ordering the murder. Kushtia Sadar Upazila Chairman and city Awami League General Secretary Ataur Rahman Atak has been accused of shooting with weapons. Abdullah's father Lukman Hossain filed the case at Kushtia Model Police Station on Thursday. Incidentally, on August 5, during the anti-discrimination student movement, Abdullah was shot dead at the intersection of six roads in the city. Abdullah Kushtia used to work with his father in a tea shop adjacent to the fire service office. Abdullah Char is the son of Lokman Hossain of Thana Para. A total of 14 people, including leaders and activists of Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League, Swachha Sevak League, were mentioned in the murder case filed on Thursday night in connection with Abdullah's murder. Another 10/20 accused have been made unidentified.
