India has successfully completed the launch of the nuclear-capable Agni-5 (Agni-V) intercontinental ballistic missile. Analysts believe that the country's strategic defense capabilities have been further strengthened through this launch.
This missile, developed by India's Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), was launched from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.
The range of the Agni-5 missile is more than 5,000 kilometers. As a result, it is capable of hitting a wide area of Asia as well as Europe. This three-stage solid-fuel engine-powered missile can carry a nuclear warhead of up to 1.5 tons.
According to experts, Agni-5 will further strengthen India's 'nuclear deterrence' or nuclear resistance. This long-range missile is considered an important part of India's military capabilities.
Indian defense officials said that the successful launch once again verified the missile's various technical capabilities and accuracy.
