Amid the ongoing tensions with Iran, US President Donald Trump has threatened to 'totally blow up' the country. He also warned that strong military action will be taken if a deal is not reached within the stipulated time.
In an interview with ABC News on Sunday (April 5), Trump said that Iran has only days, not weeks, to reach a deal. Otherwise, a devastating attack on the country's infrastructure could be launched.
He claimed that Iran has already suffered major losses and the situation is getting worse day by day. In Trump's words, "No country has been hit like this before."
According to analysts, Trump's statement has further increased the risk of targeting Iran's civilian infrastructure, which has created concern in the international arena.
Earlier, on February 28, Iran imposed restrictions on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz due to attacks by the United States and Israel. This has put a huge strain on the global oil supply and pushed oil prices above $110 per barrel.
Trump has repeatedly given Iran a deadline to open the Strait of Hormuz in recent weeks. In his latest post on social media, he warned of a new deadline.
Meanwhile, several countries, including Russia and China, have expressed concern over Trump's threat. International analysts fear that if the situation is not brought under control, a major conflict could erupt in the Middle East.
