A Bangladeshi national died in the United Arab Emirates after being hit by the wreckage of a drone, which has caused deep concern among Bangladeshi expatriates. The identity of the person who died in this tragic accident that took place in the Fujairah region of the country has not yet been confirmed.
A statement released by the country's official sources on Wednesday (April 1) said that the UAE's air defense system successfully shot down a suspicious unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the airspace. Although quick action was taken to avoid a security risk, the drone's wreckage spread over the surrounding area after it crashed.
The Fujairah Government Media Office said that part of the downed drone fell on a farm in the Al-Rifa'a area. A Bangladeshi worker working there at the time was killed on the spot. Authorities said his identity could not be immediately identified.
Emergency services and security forces reached the spot immediately after the incident and started rescue and control of the situation. Security has been beefed up in the surrounding areas and the entire situation is being closely monitored.
The incident has raised fresh concerns about the safety of Bangladeshis living abroad. It is hoped that the authorities concerned will quickly identify the deceased and ensure necessary legal and humanitarian assistance.
