Iran has launched a ballistic missile attack on Al Udeid Air Base, the largest US military installation in the Middle East. Qatar's Ministry of Defense officially confirmed this information on Wednesday.
According to the ministry's statement, two ballistic missiles were fired at the Al-Udeid base. One of the missiles was successfully intercepted by Qatar's air defense system. The other hit the base. However, detailed information about the type of infrastructure damage caused by the attack was not immediately released.
Qatari authorities said that no casualties have been reported in the incident so far. The situation is being closely monitored and security at the base has been strengthened.
Al-Udeid Air Base is located near the Qatari capital Doha and is one of the main centers of US military operations in the Middle East. Important units and command structures of the US Air Force are located here. The base has played a key role in US military operations in various regions, including Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria.
Tensions between Iran and the United States have reached a peak in recent times. The Iranian military has repeatedly threatened to attack US bases in the Middle East. According to analysts, an attack on a strategically important facility like Al-Udeid could further complicate the regional security situation.
The incident has raised concerns in the international community. Diplomatic sources have indicated that the parties concerned may be called upon to show restraint to preserve regional stability.
