A dramatic security incident unfolded late at night in Florida after an armed युवक was shot and killed while attempting to enter the secured perimeter of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. local time on Sunday (February 22). According to the United States Secret Service, the individual tried to drive through the resort’s security boundary. Authorities later confirmed that he was carrying a shotgun and a gas can at the time of the confrontation. Trump was in Washington, D.C., during the incident, and no other protectees under Secret Service protection were present at the estate.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw stated that the युवक attempted to enter through the resort’s north gate as another vehicle was exiting. When confronted by two Secret Service agents and a sheriff’s deputy, he reportedly placed the gas can on the ground but raised the shotgun in a threatening manner. Officers immediately opened fire, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities identified the deceased as 21-year-old Austin Tucker Martin from North Carolina. Preliminary investigations revealed that he had purchased the shotgun while traveling from North Carolina to Florida. His family had recently reported him missing, according to law enforcement sources.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt praised the Secret Service for responding swiftly and courageously to neutralize what she described as an armed intruder. Meanwhile, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel confirmed that a full investigation is underway to determine whether there was any specific motive behind the incident. Authorities have also urged local residents to share any relevant surveillance footage.

Family members of Martin expressed shock over the घटना. His cousin reportedly described him as a quiet individual who showed little interest in politics and was not experienced with firearms.

This latest security breach has once again raised concerns over the safety of high-profile political figures in the United States. In recent years, Trump has faced multiple threats. During the 2024 campaign season, an individual attempted to attack him near a Florida golf club and is currently serving a life sentence. He also narrowly survived another attempted attack during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

The Mar-a-Lago incident underscores ongoing security challenges and the heightened vigilance surrounding former and current U.S. leaders.
