The 'Dubai Dress', made by the United Arab Emirates' Al Romaizan Gold and Jewellery Company, has been named the world's heaviest gold dress by the Guinness World Records. The dress weighs 10.0812 kilograms and is worth about 4.6 million dirhams, which is equivalent to about 140 million taka in Bangladeshi currency.
This special honor was bestowed during the 56th Middle East Watch and Jewellery Exhibition held at the Sharjah Expo Center. The Guinness World Records Committee officially presented the company with a record certificate at the event.
The 'Dubai Dress' is made of four main parts—a gold crown (398 grams), necklace (8,810.60 grams), earrings (134.1 grams) and hair piece (738.5 grams). The entire dress is made of 21 carats of pure gold.
The company’s designers have taken inspiration from traditional Emirati culture and history to create this garment. The intricate gold designs and colourful jewelled embellishments give a unique twist to ancient traditions with a modern twist.
Mohsen Al Dhaybani, regional deputy manager of Al Romaizan, said, “This is not just a piece of jewellery, but a symbol of Emirati creativity. This achievement will further cement Dubai as a global hub for gold and jewellery.”
