Will Trump win the Nobel Peace Prize this time?

Former US President Donald Trump's name has been in discussion for the past few days as a possible candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump has claimed that his peace initiatives and conflict resolution measures in various regions, including the Middle East, have made him worthy of receiving the Nobel Prize.
However, in awarding the Nobel Peace Prize, the Nobel Committee emphasizes activities that establish long-term peace, international cooperation, and social cohesion. State agreements or initiatives alone are not enough. Trump himself once said, 'They won't give me the prize.' Some news reports have reported that the Nobel Committee has excluded him from the candidate list, but this has been reported to be baseless.
Analysts believe that Trump's campaign and political position may create obstacles in his path to receiving the Nobel. On the other hand, the Nobel Committee does not like to exert political pressure on candidates or initiatives.
The current world situation is worrying. In 1946, Sweden's Uppsala University began compiling a database on global conflicts. In 2024, the number of armed conflicts involving at least one state worldwide was the highest in history. In this context, the recognition of Trump's initiative could be challenging for the committee.
"No, Trump will not receive the Nobel Peace Prize this year. But maybe next year, if the impact of his actions is more clear, it could be different," Swedish international relations expert Professor Peter Wallenstein told AFP.
Meanwhile, the Norwegian Nobel Committee will announce the winner at 11 a.m. local time (0900 GMT) on Friday. Although there has been talk of Trump winning the Nobel Peace Prize, news experts say he will not actually be a candidate for the award this year.
