A Bangladeshi expatriate has reached the pinnacle of fortune in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Private taxi driver Harun Sardar, who lives in Sharjah, has won a lottery of 20 million dirhams, which is more than 660 million taka in Bangladeshi currency.
Harun Sardar participated in this popular raffle draw called ‘Big Ticket’. His ticket number was 035350. He bought the ticket on September 14. When two popular presenters Richard and Boucher called during the live draw ceremony to announce the victory, he was speechless with joy. At that time, he just kept saying, “Okay, okay.”
However, this prize is not for him alone. He participated in a group of 10 friends. So this huge cash prize will also be shared among those 10 people.
Harun Sardar, 44, has been working in the UAE since 2009. He had been buying big tickets regularly every month for the past 15 years. After a long wait, his hard work finally paid off.
Other winners
A few other expatriates got lucky in this draw. Four winners each won 50,000 dirhams (about 1.6 million taka in Bangladeshi currency). They include Shihab Umair from Kerala, India, Siddique Pamblath, an Indian expatriate in Dubai, Ali Hussain Ali from Bangladesh living in Abu Dhabi, and Adel Mohammad, a Pakistani expatriate living in Sharjah.
In addition, another Bangladeshi expatriate living in Sharjah, Mohammad Saiful Islam Ahmed Nabi, also won a luxurious Range Rover Velar car in the same draw. His ticket number was 022118.
