Starlink Internet Service Launched at Alaol Hall, Country's First Public University

High-speed Starlink Internet service has been launched at Alaol Hall, the residential hall of the country's first public university, of Chittagong University (CU). The service was officially inaugurated by the university's Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Kamal Uddin at 12 noon on Monday (November 3). The newly elected student representatives of the Alaol Hall Parliament and general students were present at the time.
Alaol Hall is the oldest residential hall of Chittagong University, which was established in 1966. Currently, about two hundred students live here. For a long time, students have been suffering in online classes, research and educational activities due to the instability of internet service.
The implementation of this Starlink Internet service has been funded by Sayeed Al Noman Turya, the founder Vice Chairman of East Delta University located in Khulshi, Chittagong city and the son of senior BNP leader Abdullah Al Noman.
Alaol Hall Sangsad's newly elected General Secretary (GS) Noor Nabi said,
“Based on the feedback from students, we have introduced Starlink Internet as an alternative to solve the long-standing internet problem. Now, residential and non-residential students will get fast and uninterrupted internet facilities.”
Dr. Kamal Uddin said,
“First of all, I would like to thank the newly elected student representatives of Alaol Hall. Immediately after the Chaksu election, they worked on the internet problems of students and solved the long-standing problems of students by launching Starlink Internet.
Although there was already an internet connection, it was not sufficient. This new service will act as an additional and effective connection. The biggest advantage of having student representatives is that they are by the side of the students, understand the problems and play a role in coordinating with the administration to solve them.
I myself was once a student of Alaol Hall. This is the most traditional hall of Chittagong University, which is still my life's place. The way the student representatives are now working for the students with external cooperation is truly commendable. I have come to know that Saeed Al Noman has provided financial support for this initiative—this is an example.”
Residential student Mohammad Nuhat said,
“Earlier, due to internet problems, we had to buy packages from outside and use them. Now if the connection is stable, then we don't have to take them from outside—this will also reduce the cost.”
