Four BSEC commissioners including chairman resign

Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Khandaker Rashed Maqsood has resigned. After serving for about 21 months, he decided to step down from the post due to personal reasons.
His resignation was confirmed by BSEC sources on Thursday (June 4). He referred to his decision to step down as an attempt to focus on personal work.
In a statement issued after his resignation, Khandaker Rashed Maqsood said that the capital market was going through various types of instability when he took office. The commission has taken initiatives to restore market discipline as well as legal and policy reforms.
He also said that during this time, regulations related to margin, IPO, mutual funds, debt securities and whistleblowers have been published in the form of a gazette. In addition, several draft regulations on corporate governance and market reforms have been opened for public opinion.
