Exchange meeting related to import-exporter and transport business of Benapole land port

Tuesday 5th November (2024) at 11 am at Benapole Municipal Community Center (Biye Bari) under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate Md Azaharul Islam and organized by Upazila Administration, Sharsha and Benapole Municipalities and National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection, District Office, Jessore. The exchange meeting was held.
Mohammad Alim Akhtar Khan, Director General (Grade-1), National Directorate of Consumer Protection, Ministry of Commerce was the chief guest on this occasion.
Fakir Muhammad Munawar Hossain, Director, National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection, Ministry of Commerce was the special guest.
Sharsha Upazila Executive Officer Kazi Najeeb Hasan, Benapole Land Port Director (Traffic) Md. Mamun Kabir Tarafdar, Upazila Assistant Land Commissioner (Magistrate) Nusrat Yasmin, Benapole Port Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Russell Mia, Sharsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) were also present. The chief guest said that the government has enacted the Consumer Rights Protection Act on April 6, 2009 with the aim of filing complaints under the Protection of Consumer Rights Act-2009 and provisions of offenses and punishments- protection of consumer rights and prevention of anti-consumer rights.
For the information of consumers and sellers, the Act lays down the provisions for filing complaints, acts against consumer rights and offenses and penalties. In this regard, the common man has 8 rights of consumer rights recognized by the United Nations such as:- Right to meet basic needs, Right to get information, Right to get safe goods or services, Right to choose, Right to know, Right to complaint and redress, Right to get education about consumer rights and responsibilities. And right to a healthy environment, he said.
