Amtali Journalists Union forms new executive committee for 2026

The Amtali Journalists Union has formed its executive committee for 2026. Paritosh Karmakar, Amtali Upazila representative of Dainik Bangladesh Pratidin, has been elected as the president, and HM Kawsar Madbar, Amtali Upazila representative of Dainik Sangbad, has been elected as the general secretary.
Out of a total of 20 voters, 19 exercised their right to vote in the election held at the Amtali Upazila Parishad auditorium. Paritosh Karmakar was elected as the president, while his closest rival was Md. Zainul Abedin. On the other hand, HM Kawsar Madbar won the post of general secretary; his closest rival for this post was Md. Fakhruddin Tahsin.
In the election, Iqbal Talukder and Md. Bashir Ahmed were elected as vice-presidents, Md. Rashimul Haque Rimon as joint general secretary, Imran Hossain as finance secretary, PM Sajjad Hossain Sharif as organizing secretary, Md. Masum Billah as office and library secretary and Mithun Karmakar as publicity and publication secretary were elected unopposed. Md. Jasim Uddin Sikder served as the election commissioner.
Before the election, a view-sharing meeting was held under the chairmanship of Md. Jasim Uddin Sikder, president of Amtoli Journalists Union. Md. Tuhin Mridha, former member secretary of Upazila BNP, was present as the chief guest. Maulana Omar Faruk Jehadi, President of the Amtoli branch of the Islamic Movement Bangladesh, Chawra Union Jamaat-e-Islami, Assistant Professor Dalil Uddin Arshedi, SI of Amtoli Police Station Kamal Chandra Dey, former President of Amtoli Press Club Khairul Bashar Bulbul, General Secretary Advocate Nuhu-ul Alam Nabin, Director of Channel Amtoli Saifullah Nasir and President of Bangladesh Press Club Sumon Rashid spoke as special guests.
Journalists Paritosh Karmakar, Md. Zainul Abedin, Md. Hossain Ali Kazi, HM Kawsar Madbar, Fakhruddin Tahsin and other guests also spoke at the exchange of views. The speakers emphasized professional journalism, unity of journalists and protecting the dignity of the organization.
In their response, the newly elected leaders said that they will work collectively to practice objective and professional journalism in Amtali, protect the rights of journalists, and maintain the unity and dignity of the organization.
