Police have arrested Md. Harun (45), alias ‘Daba Harun’—known as an associate of the notorious Chittagong-based gangster David Emon—in Fatikchhari, Chittagong. He was apprehended following a raid conducted after his name surfaced during the interrogation of ‘Tester Mobarak,’ who had previously been arrested while preparing to commit a robbery.
Harun was arrested around 7 PM on Saturday (September 12) during an operation in the Hachi Sardar Para area of Manikpur, within Kanchannagar Union. Md. Rabiul Alam Khan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fatikchhari Police Station, confirmed the arrest.
Police stated that Harun is the son of Badiul Alam from Hachi Sardar Para, Manikpur, Kanchannagar Union. He is locally known as ‘Daba Harun.’ Law enforcement claims he was involved in various criminal activities as an associate of notorious gangsters David Emon, Kala Mobarak, and Tester Mobarak.
Police indicated that Harun’s arrest is part of an ongoing operation to apprehend David Emon’s associates. Authorities are currently interrogating him to gather information regarding his connection to David Emon and his role in recent criminal activities.
Earlier on Saturday morning, police had arrested Mohammad Mobarak Hossain, alias ‘Tester Mobarak,’ in Fatikchhari while he was preparing for a robbery; he was found in possession of locally made weapons. Police claim he is another known associate of David Emon and Kala Mobarak.
Police reported that during the interrogation of Tester Mobarak, the name ‘Daba Harun’ emerged among the members of the robbery gang who had been with him but managed to flee the scene. Subsequently, the operation to arrest Harun was launched. Efforts to apprehend other members of the gang are also continuing.
Fatikchhari Police Station OC Md. Rabiul Alam Khan stated that police operations to arrest the associates of top gangster David Emon are ongoing. As part of this initiative, Daba Harun was arrested during the operation on Saturday evening.
He added that preliminary interrogation and various sources of information have revealed Daba Harun's involvement in multiple criminal activities. His name had also surfaced during the questioning of the previously arrested Tester Mobarak. The OC further stated that information regarding Harun's involvement in the high-profile Saddam murder case in Kanchan-nagar has also been uncovered. He will be produced before the court following the completion of legal procedures.
