In Dhamrai, Dhaka, a Muslim housewife (25) reportedly fell victim to a brutal gang assault while visiting the area, according to serious allegations from the victim’s family and local sources. The incident allegedly took place on Thursday night at a house in Ramraban village of Balia Union. According to the claims, the woman’s husband was tied to a tree post at gunpoint while she was repeatedly assaulted throughout the night. In addition, approximately three and a half tolas of gold jewelry were reportedly stolen from the couple.
Sources say that Abdul Razzak, a resident of Manikganj and a driver at ND Construction Firm in Pabrail, Dhamrai, had gone to Balia Palace with his wife. Accompanying them was a security staff member of the same firm, Krishna Chandra Monidas, a resident of Ramraban village. After spending the day touring the area, Krishna Chandra took them to his residence. Following the Poush festival event at a nearby temple, the couple was arranged to stay overnight at the house of Krishna Chandra’s sister, Shanti Rani Monidas.
According to allegations, around midnight, 5–7 young men armed with sharp local weapons entered the house. They reportedly threatened to kill Abdul Razzak, tied him to a post, and then assaulted his wife in front of him. During the assault, the gang allegedly stole the housewife’s earrings, necklace, and bangles, totaling about three and a half tolas of gold.
On Friday morning, when the victimized couple sought justice from local representatives, they reportedly faced further harassment. They claimed that some locals threatened them with sticks and forced them to leave the village, intensifying anger and tension in the area.
Balia Union’s Ward 8 member Montu Chandra Monidas stated that he visited the scene but could not locate anyone, and immediate identification of the accused was not possible. ASI Haradhan Sarkar of Dhamrai Police confirmed that he had inspected the area, but neither the victims nor the accused were found. The matter has been reported to higher authorities, and further legal action is expected.
Currently, concerns remain regarding the safety and whereabouts of the victim’s family. Local residents and community members have demanded a prompt investigation, arrest of the accused, and ensured security and legal support for the victims.
