Attack on BNP motorcycle showdown in Bauphal, 10 injured

The attack on BNP motorcycle showdown in Bauphal, Patuakhali has been accused of being carried out by leaders and activists of the banned Chhatra League and Jubo League. The incident took place on Saturday night in the Daspara bus stand area of Daspara union of the upazila. At least 10 people from BNP and its affiliates were injured in the attack.
Local BNP leaders claim that they took out a procession with 40 to 50 motorcycles to protest the misdeeds of the banned Chhatra League. When the procession reached the Daspara bus stand area, a group of people with country-made weapons attacked them. Some were seriously injured and several motorcycles were vandalized.
Among the injured are some leaders and activists of Jubo Dal, Sramik Dal and Chhatra Dal. The seriously injured have been rescued and admitted to Bauphal Upazila Health Complex. The rest have received primary treatment locally.
BNP leaders have alleged that the attackers are associated with the banned Chhatra League and Jubo League of Kalaiya and Daspara unions. However, no immediate statement was received from the accused regarding this matter.
