Shaykh Ahmadullah Backs ‘Yes’ Vote on Reform Referendum

Published: 12:52 11 February 2026
Popular Islamic scholar and Chairman of As-Sunnah Foundation, Shaykh Ahmadullah, has expressed his support for a “Yes” vote in the upcoming referendum to be held alongside the National Parliamentary Election on February 12.
In a post on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday (February 11), he stated that he supports a “Yes” vote in favor of positive reform and change.
However, he emphasized that all reform initiatives must be implemented while upholding religious and social values. He noted that to ensure no deviation in this regard, the elected government should consider it an important responsibility to guarantee the participation of representative Islamic scholars in the final reform process.
Shaykh Ahmadullah further said that a “Yes” vote should not mean endorsing just any form of change; rather, it should reflect a commitment to reform that preserves religious and social values.
The National Parliamentary Election will be held nationwide on Thursday, February 12. At the same time, a referendum on state reforms under the proposed “July Charter” will also take place. Voters will cast their votes using two separate ballots.
According to the Election Commission, one ballot will be for the parliamentary election, where voters will choose their preferred candidate. The second ballot will be for the referendum on implementing the proposed “July Charter,” where voters will vote either “Yes” or “No” to indicate their support.
