Bandar Police have arrested notorious armed criminal and extortionist Boltu Amjad during a special operation in the Dewli area under Ward No. 24 of Narayanganj City Corporation.
According to police sources, the arrest was made on Sunday evening (February 1) based on confidential information. Boltu Amjad was detained from his own shop. He had long been creating fear in the area by openly displaying weapons, extorting money, and establishing dominance through criminal activities.
Following the political change on August 5, Boltu Amjad went into hiding. However, allegations suggest that he was attempting to resume his criminal operations from behind the scenes by managing influential local figures.
Acting on secret intelligence, police conducted a raid and successfully arrested him. Boltu Amjad is known as an active associate of the Awami League in the area. Several cases, including charges of violence against women, have been filed against him.
Meanwhile, photos and videos showing his controversial activities and weapon displays have circulated on social media.
Bandar Police stated that legal proceedings against Boltu Amjad are currently underway. They also confirmed that such operations will continue regularly to ensure public safety and to apprehend identified criminals.
