The capital has been suffering extremely due to continuous rain since the beginning of the day. City life has practically come to a standstill due to incessant rain since the morning. The common people of Mirpur area are suffering the most.
The main roads of Mirpur-10, Mirpur-1, Kazipara, Sheorapara and the surrounding areas have been flooded with knee-deep water, creating long waterlogged roads. Office-going people and ordinary passengers are suffering due to this. Bus and rickshaw fares have increased several times. As a result, the financial pressure of working people has also increased.
The waterlogging has caused traffic jams, disrupted vehicle movement and school-going students are also in trouble. Local businessmen have been affected by water entering shops in many places. The city dwellers have alleged that the waterlogging caused by a little rain is a major failure of the City Corporation.
Dhaka North City Corporation officials said work is underway to resolve the waterlogging. However, they admitted that a quick solution is not possible without a long-term plan.
