A 54-year-old woman named Maneja Khatun died after being buried under a house in Lalmohan upazila of Bhola due to Cyclone Remal. The incident took place at the house of Abdul Quader Mia of ward number 7 of West Charoumed Union of the upazila on Monday morning.
It is known that old Maneja Khatun fell asleep with her 7-month-old grandson after eating at night. Moneja Khatun's house was torn apart by the stormy winds of Cyclone Remal in the early hours of the night. Hearing the screams of the old woman's relatives, the neighbors came forward. At that time, the old woman Maneja Khatun was rescued dead from under the collapsed house. However, the old woman's 7-month-old grandson Abdullah is alive. In this regard, Lalmohan Upazila Project Implementation Officer Sohag Ghosh said, we visited the scene along with UNO sir after receiving the news.
At this time, financial assistance of 5 thousand taka was provided to her children for the burial of the old woman's body. Besides, it has not been possible to determine the damage of the upazila so far. Meanwhile, under the influence of Cyclone Remal, stormy winds and heavy rains have occurred throughout Lalmohan Upazila since Sunday night. Meghna and Tentulia rivers are turbulent. Tide and rainwater have entered various houses in the lower areas of the upazila. Electricity has been shut down in the entire Lalmohan upazila since Sunday night. Apart from this, boat traffic on various routes from Lalmohan Upazila is also closed.
