Accidents are increasing due to the service lane of Dhaka-Tangail highway

In Madarjani village of Kartia Union on Dhaka-Tangail highway, accidents are happening almost every day as the 50 meters of service lane work is not completed. Many men and women are crippled as a result. The locals are also spending their days in fear, the locals demanded that the work of the service lane be completed soon.
It has been reported that the contractor SASEC could not complete the work of that section as the residents of Madarjani village of Kartia Union, a commercial area of Tangail Sadar Upazila of the highway, demanded an underpass. When the residents of the area protested on Parvati, they built a foot over bridge on the Tangail road and public road. But the work of 50 meters of service lane has not been completed so far. As a result, fatal accidents are happening there every day. Many motorcycle riders of the district are spending their days paralyzed.
General Secretary of Madarjani Village Mosque Committee Md. Hamid Mia said that although the service lane of Dhaka-Tangail highway has been completed, the work of a little 50 meters road in Madarjani section has not been completed. Fatal accidents often occur here due to incomplete work. He also said that CNG drivers on motorcycles drive at high speed thinking that there are no gaps in the service lane. Due to the pitfalls here, the fast speeding vehicles are prone to accidents. On Monday morning, a young woman was involved in a motorcycle accident that left the girl with cuts all over her body and her right leg was broken in the middle. Besides, the girl's two front teeth fell out. The boy was fatally injured. Immediately we rescued them and sent them to the hospital.
Mostafa Murad of Madarjani village and Russell Anshari, businessman of College Para village, said that because the work of this service lane was not completed, potholes were formed in light rain. Even if we manage to leave the soil on our own initiative, it does not last long. Besides, people from far and wide travel with motorcycles and CNG on this road. Local drivers are aware of potholes, but unknown motorcyclists and CNG drivers are not aware of them, so many people are involved in accidents.
Shopkeepers Ziaur Rahman and Noor Alam said that there are fewer accidents during the day but more accidents at night. Sometimes there is a loud noise, I run to see motorcycle riders or CAG passengers lying on the road. There are many problems in sending accident victims to hospital at night. They demanded to complete the road work as soon as possible.
Sub-Divisional Executive Engineer in charge (Mirzapur) Md. Saiful Islam Molla said that initially the work could not be completed due to the obstruction of the local residents. The matter was discussed with the senior officer and assured to work quickly.
Cynthia Ajmeri, Executive Engineer of Tangail Roads and Public Roads (Soaz) Department, said that after seeing the matter on the ground, action will be taken very quickly.
