The driver was killed in a head-on collision between two vehicles in Raipura

1 driver was killed in a head-on collision between a cargo covered van and a pickup on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Raipura, Narsingdi. The helper of the pickup is receiving treatment at the hospital with serious injuries. The incident took place on the Namapara Dhaka Sylhet highway of Mahmudabad in Raipura upazila around 1:30 p.m. today, Friday (June 28).
After the accident, several kilometers long traffic jam was created on both sides of the highway. Later, with the help of the police, the traffic was normalized by 2.30 pm.
Bachchu Mia (30), a resident of Nayanpur village of Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria district, was killed in this incident. Besides, Karim Mia's son Faisal (23) of Mudram area of Burichong upazila of Comilla district was injured.
Bhairav Highway Police and locals said that a covered van of Asha courier service loaded with cargo from Dhaka reached the Mahmudabad Namapara area of the highway and collided with a cargo pickup coming from the opposite direction. Meanwhile, the front part of the two vehicles got twisted and the driver of the pickup died on the spot. At that time, a speeding passenger Laguna behind the covered van hit the back of the covered van. This damaged the front part of the lagoon. However, no passenger or driver in the Laguna was injured or killed.
Both the covered van and the driver of the Laguna fled after the incident. Locals rescued the seriously injured pickup helper and took him to Bhairav Hospital. Later on getting information, Bhairab Highway Police and Bhairab Fire Service personnel came to the spot and after a long effort recovered the body of the driver who was buried under the twisted truck and took it to Bhairab Highway Police Station.
Mo Rashed, leader of Bhairab Fire Service, said that after receiving the information at 1:40 PM, we reached the spot and recovered the body of the deceased driver. The body has been handed over to the Bhairav Highway Police.
Sergeant Saker Ahmed of Bhairab Highway Police Station said that the accident happened around 1:30 PM. After getting the news, we came and recovered the dead body and took it to the police station. In this incident, one person was killed and one person was injured, along with three cars seized. Further legal action is being taken in this regard.
